I was constantly zoned out and at loss for words. I was so focused on pushing the intensity and increasing my maximum breath-hold that the method became a detriment. But as time went on, it actually started to give me stress and anxiety. Every day I’d wake up and do 3 to 5 rounds of the breathing method. So after that experience, I was all about the Wim Hof Method. The initial shock of the cold! Post Wim Hof Seminar All the aches and pains were gone and the ice bath was enjoyable! But then I remember the instructor reminding me to breathe! So I started consciously telling myself to calm down and BREATHE! Shortly after, I remember a sense of calm hit me. When I first stepped in, my initial instinct was panic! My breathing was all out of control and my whole body was shaking and aching. So jumping into an ice bath was not an easy experience for me. I’ll take the blustering heat over the freezing cold any day of the week. So now to the other half of the experience, cold exposure! I don’t know about you but I hate the cold. It’s something you have to experience yourself to truly understand. I still remember the instructor shouting BREATH IN AND BREATH OUT and sensing everyone breathing together. I know this seems a little out there, but it’s not an exaggeration. There were about 20 or 30 people in the room and I could feel an “extra sense” of energy. And even more surreal was the energy in the room. I was just sitting there with a big smile on my face loving life.
